3rd ANNUAL KIDS/COPS SOFTBALL GAME
AND HOME RUN DERBY
Event held at Concord Ave. Softball Field, Belmont, MA
on Sunday Afternoon, 29 September 2002
Belmont, MA -- The 3rd Annual Cops/Kids Softball Game and
Home Run Derby was held at the Belmont Softball Field on Concerd Ave., Belmont. This
community event was a great success, with fun had by all who attended.
The home run derby trophy has been named in Brendan's honor, as he was the
first to win it in 1999, and it is kept on permanent display in the lobby of the Belmont
Police Station. The start of this activity in 1999 was the year that Brendan put on a
show hitting 17 homeruns to thrill the crowd.
This year's 2002 winners were Belmont Police Officer Barry Ward (see photo to the right),
who was the overall winner, and winning as the representive for Belmont High School was
Ryan Harvey (at bat in above photo). This year's competition was indeed fierce, with
alot of balls going yard.
This is the third time this event has been held, after skipping the year 2000. The
entire event was a great success, with lots of smiles and lots of fun. Stay tuned
for next year's event, and come on down and join the fun!
