Plymouth, MA:  The 3rd Annual NFPA Golf Tournament was held on Sunday, 14 September, at the Southers Marsh Golf Course  in Plymouth, Massachusetts, located on the beautiful south shore of metropolitan Boston not far from Cape Cod Bay.

webpic_0992.jpg (77515 bytes) The 18 holes of golf began at 9:00 am sharp in a scramble format, and special thanks are due to Dave Tourigny Sr. for all his effort organizing this event.  This year's event was a relatively scaled-down version of the more elaborate tournaments held in previous years, and was intended to provide a fun and relaxing day of golf for all of our dedicated golfers who also want to help the Foundation's worthy causes.  webpic_1002.jpg (80444 bytes)The Southers Marsh is a magnificently designed course, with cranberry bogs artfully woven through the various links (click here for a link to the golf club's website).

Seven foursomes competed for cash prizes.  One of the foursome played short-handed with only three golfers, and as it turn out, this impressive trio of Brian Bishop, Bill Gibson and webpic_1006.jpg (55071 bytes)Bruce Mullin produced the best score of the day with a combined score of 5 under par.  The Shirley party came in second place with a combined score of 2 under par. Additional contests included the closest to the pin on the 7th hole and 12th holes, won by the Grant brothers Casey and Mike, respectively.  At the 18th hole, the men's longest drive was won by Bob webpic_0994.jpg (60938 bytes)Winnett and the women's by Shannon Grant.  The course certainly has its share of challenges, with plenty of golf balls finding their way into the cranberry bogs.

The weather was great all day, with plenty of sunshine but not too hot.  Rain had been a question mark in the forecast, but it was a blue sky day all the way.   It was a fun day of golf for all involved, and the proceeds from this successful event go to benefit the various on-going initiatives of The Brendan Grant Foundation.
