6th ANNUAL
NFPA GOLF TOURNAMENT
Held Sunday, 23 September 2007, in Plymouth, MA
on behalf of The Brendan Grant Foundation
Plymouth, MA: The 6th Annual NFPA Golf Tournament
was held on Sunday, 23 September, at the Southers Marsh Golf
Course in Plymouth,
Massachusetts, located on the beautiful south shore of metropolitan Boston
not far from Cape Cod Bay.
The 18 holes of golf
began at 1:00 pm sharp with a shotgun start, and special thanks are due to
Dave Tourigny Sr. and his family for all their effort organizing this event. This year's event was
under absolutely pristine autumn weather and provided a fun and relaxing day of
golf for all of our dedicated golfers. Southers Marsh is a magnificently
designed course, with cranberry bogs artfully woven through the various
links (click here for a link to
the golf club's website).
Nine foursomes competed for cash prizes. As it turns out, the impressive
returning foursome
of Brian Bishop, Bill Gibson, Scott Hanson and Bruce
Mullin produced the best score of the day with a combined score of 5 under
par. The Winnett party came in second place with a combined score of
4 under par. Third was the Carli/Perkins foursome coming in at an
even par. Additional contests included the closest to the pin at
four separate holes won by the
Dawn Cedrone, Bill Gibson, Barb Miller, and Mike Grant. The longest
drive was won by Lorraine Carli for the women and Bob Winnett for the men. The course certainly has its share
of challenges, with plenty of golf balls finding their way into the
cranberry bogs. The results are as follows:

The weather was great all day, with plenty of sunshine and not too
hot. After completing the course, everyone was able to
relax and enjoy a barbeque dinner, along with a raffle. Special
thanks go out to those who helped with the raffle, most notably George and
Barbara Miller (Titleist golf balls), Tom Norton (golf balls and tees),
Lorraine and Jay Carli (golf shirts), Rita Fahy (Bluetooth headset), John
Dicocco (New England Golf Guides), and multiple anonymous contributions. In addition, all participants received a new
golf shirt as a
way of saying thanks for their support. It was a fun day of golf for all
involved, and the proceeds from this successful event go to
benefit the various on-going initiatives of The Brendan Grant Foundation.
