2008 BRENDAN GRANT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO JONATHON
SMART, MICAELA HEBERT, AND ALEXANDER CHIPMAN-SHERVISH

BELMONT - The seventh annual Brendan Grant Scholarships were awarded at the
Senior Student
Assembly at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA on Friday, 6 June 2008.
The 2008 recipients are class of 2008 graduating Seniors Jonathon Smart, Micaela Hebert,
and Alexander Chipman-Shervish.
A single scholarship was awarded in 2002 and 2003, and in 2004 it was
expanded to two annual scholarships. Once again, this year's scholarships
were expanded from two to three recipients. Previous recipients
represented a college-bound Senior from the Belmont High School
Varsity Baseball Team and Varsity Softball Team., and this year a third
recipient was added representing a graduating Senior from the Belmont
High School Varsity Wrestling Team. The recipients all happen to
be Captains
of their respective squads, with Jon Smart representing baseball,
Micaela Hebert representing softball, and Alex Chipman-Shervish
representing wrestling. In the fall of 2008, Jon will be attending
Harvard University, Micaela will be attending Saint Anselm College, and
Alex will be attending Boston College. Sincere
congratulations are extended to Jon, Micaela and Alex and their families.

The Brendan Grant Scholarship has been established in
memory of Brendan Grant, the accomplished 19-year old Belmont baseball player who was
fatally injured in an outfield collision during a Senior Babe Ruth game in June
200l. The three annual scholarships provides assistance to a senior member of
the Belmont High School
varsity baseball, softball and wrestling teams who will be attending an institution of higher learning after
graduation. The scholarship is intended to reward a player who possesses the same positive
spirit and leadership skills for which Brendan was known. Click
