Sunday, 14 September 2003: The 3rd Annual NFPA Golf Tournament
was held on Sunday, 14 September, at the Southers Marsh Golf
Course in Plymouth, MA. The Southers Marsh is a magnificently
designed course, with cranberry bogs artfully woven through the various
links (click here for
the full story). Proceeds from this event go to
benefit the various on-going initiatives of The Brendan Grant Foundation.
Wednesday, 3 September 2003: News is received of the sudden passing of
good friend Chuck Lelas Sr., the Head Coach of the AIC Baseball Team at
American International College. The Brendan Grant Foundation
extends it sincere sympathy to the Lelas Family and the entire AIC
community. Coach Lelas was a mentor to Brendan Grant, who played
under his guiding leadership while attending AIC. Specific details
on the impact of this loss to the AIC family is captured in the attached

Saturday, 16 August 2003: An annual sportsmanship honor and ceremony in recognition of Brendan Grant
was presented by Babe Ruth League, Inc at the conclusion of the
2003 Senior Babe Ruth 16-18 year old World Series in Weimar, TX. Click

Thursday, 14 August 2003: The
10th Annual Old Time Baseball Game was held at St. Peter's Field in
Cambridge, MA with near perfect weather, which helped make for a great
event with all proceeds donated to this year's charity of the
Massachusetts Special Olympics. Brendan was a posthumous selection
to the 2001 Old Time Baseball Game, and his number "1"
ceremoniously hangs on the outfield fence as a tradition in each game.

7 - 11 July 2003: A Wrestling Clinic for youth ages 8-14 took place
on July 7-11 at Belmont High School. This new
program is supported by the Friends of Belmont Wrestling and The Brendan
Grant Foundation, and it is being run by supporters and alumni of the
Belmont High School wrestling team. Further
details on future clinics can be obtained by going to the Town
of Belmont Recreation Dept website. Brendan was a captain of the
team in 2000 when he was a senior, and the Belmont Invitational Wrestling
Tournament (that is now in its 23rd year) has been renamed in his

The second annual "Brendan's Home RunTM" 5K Race &
Walk was held in Belmont, MA on Father's Day 2003 and was a great success.

Friday, 30 May 2003: The
second Annual Brendan Grant Scholarship was awarded at the Senior
Assembly at Belmont High School, Belmont, MA. This year's scholarship
recipient was Brendan's teammate Charlie Synnott. Click

Sunday, 4 May 2003:
A ceremony dedicating the the new Brendan Grant Memorial Locker
Room was held at the conclusion of the final game of the 2003 season at American International College (AIC) in
Springfield, MA. This new facility was completed was completed during
the winter of 2003-2003 with the assistance of The Brendan Grant Foundation.
During the 2001 spring season, Brendan was a regular starter as a Freshman for the AIC
varsity baseball team. The locker room has been renamed in Brendan's honor, and one
locker is permanently dedicated to Brendan and will never be used. Click here for

Thursday, 1 May 2003:
College level baseball returned again to Belmont, MA on
Thursday 1 May 2003, with American
International College (AIC) taking on Merrimack College at the newly
renovated Brendan Grant Memorial Field. Before the start of the
primary game, an earlier game was completed that was postponed earlier in
the season due to darkness (after being suspended at a 2 to 2 tie in the
eighth inning). This first game was won by Merrimack 7-2. The second
game, which was the primary scheduled game, was an exciting
come-from-behind contest taken by AIC 7-6. Click

Sunday, 16 March 2003: A great
day of skiing or snowboarding was had by all who attended the first Brendan Grant Foundation Ski/Snowboard
Race held at Tenney Mountain in Plymouth, NH. Click
here for the full story and all the details. The weather was magnificent, with bright sunshine and warm
spring temperatures. And it was all smiles on the Giant Slalom race
course, and at the raffle and award ceremony that followed. This was truly a family event in the spirit of the Foundation activities.
Saturday, 4 January 2003: The Second Annual Brendan Grant Wrestling
Tournament was held at Belmont High School all day on Saturday 4 January
2003. Click here for photos and the full story. Previously
referred to as the Belmont Invitational Wrestling Tournament, this event has for the last
22 years been one of the premier High School Wrestling gatherings of its kind in the
Northeast region. Brendan was a devoted member of the Tournament's host
wrestling squad during all four of his high school years, and during the 1999-2000 season
he was one of the team captains.
